Basketball Season Over

March 1, 2007

Bball The Old Westbury Panthers Mens Basketball Team ended their season after a 78 – 73 loss to Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. The loss came in the first round of the ECAC Metro tournament finishing their overall record to 18 wins 11 losses and the conference record to 12 wins 4 losses. Kenneth Eusey of the Men’s team was named to the all skyline conference first team and Dana Purnell of the Women’s team was named to the all skyline conference second team.


Basketball Playoffs

February 21, 2007

On Tuesday February 20, 2007 the playoffs began for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams.

       The Old Westbury Mens team was successful in their home game against U.S Merchant Marine defeating them with a score of 78 – 70. The team was led by forward Divine Jackson who had a team high 19 points to go along with 4 rebounds and 2 assists and guard Garthlette James who posted a double double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Panthers advance now to the conference semi finals at Stevens Institute of Technology on Thursday February 22, 2007 at 8pm.

        The Old Westbury Women’s team came up short in their playoff match up against Stevens Institute of Technology 58 – 47. The Lady Panthers were led by forward Monique Midy who had a team high 12 points and center Ashawn Ferguson who added a game high 15 rebounds. The Lady Panthers end their season with a 13 wins 13 losses overall record and 5 wins 11 losses conference record.  For more information, visit the Old Westbury Panthers website.


The Battle For 1st

       The Old Westbury Panthers Men’s Basketball Team continues there good play with a 92 to 69 win at conference rival Farmingdale. The team currently is in a four team tie for first place with each team having identical 6 – 2 records. The Panthers return back to action at home Saturday against Mount Saint Vincent who is winless in the conference followed by a home game against Maritime College who come in with a record of 2 – 6 in conference play. The Panthers with these wins could possibly hold sole possession of 1st place in the conference with a month left in the season.  For more information, visit the Panthers’ website.


Big Opportunity

January 26, 2007

        The Old Westbury Panthers Women’s Basketball Team faces a tough stretch of road games following a 81 – 53 meltdown loss against conference rival Farmingdale at home. The next 5 games will be on the road for the Lady Panthers beginning with a game Saturday at Mount Saint Vincent in which can be considered critical with Old Westbury being a game back of them in the standings. Panthers Basketball Hits Victory

         The Old Westbury Panthers demonstrated all the valuable lessons they learned over the weekend and took it out on the cougars of SUNY Purchase in a 92-62 win at the Clark Center. The Panthers look to head into this weekends game against Steven’s Institute of Technology with Wednesday night’s momentum as they square off on Saturday, December 2nd at 4:00 PM in the Clark Athletic Center. The Lady Panthers earned a hard fought victory over the visiting Hawks of CUNY Hunter College. A total team effort was put forth in a 55-50 home opening victory. The Latest on Panther Sports

November 16, 2006

          The Lady Panthers Volleyball team finished 23-15 overall which is the best in school history. They surpassed last year’s record for wins in a single season with a total of 23 victories. In addition, the Panthers received several all conference accolades; senior libero Stacy Dubin of Selden, NY, was named the co-defensive player of the year and senior middle hitter Jennifer Hoyt of Syosset, NY and senior setter Jennifer Ragone of North Massapequa NY were both named second team all-skyline.

The women’s basketball team will begin the 2006-2007 season Tuesday, November 21st against Polytechnic Institute and the men’s team will be in action on Saturday, November 25th at Long Island University Brooklyn.
